Future-Proof Your Data Center

Serving the demands of modern data centers

Very few IT infrastructure companies can match our in-house resources, expertise, and contracted relationships.

Comply with standards

Meet or exceed TIA-942 standards covering all aspects of data center infrastructure, including location, architectural considerations, electrical and mechanical systems, fire safety, and network cabling.

Pick your tier

Data centers are classified into four tiers based on their redundancy, fault tolerance, and availability. Matrix-NDI can design and build to each tier based on your needs, future expectations, and budget.

Select from the best

Matrix-NDI has formal hardware partnerships with CDW, Cisco, HP, and Extreme Networks, as well as Nile for NaaS.

Data Center IT Infrastructure NEEDS

Reliable performance

Matrix-NDI has the expertise and capabilities on staff to create data centers with fault-tolerant IT infrastructures that achieve 99.995% availability.

Ironclad security

We'll advise and contract you on robust security against attacks and comply with regulations and standards, including SOC 2 and SO/IEC 27001, the global standard for information security management systems (ISMS).

Designs for sustainability

Matrix-NDI helps data centers achieve LEED certification if desired. Certification emphasizes green practices supporting environmental sustainability and energy efficiency that reduce operating costs and negative long-term impacts on the Earth.

Cool under use

We design and install IT infrastructure in every data center to meet ASHRAE TC 9.9 thermal guideline standards for data processing environments.

FAQs

Data center IT infrastructure FAQs

Find answers to the most commonly asked questions about IT infrastructure.

  • What are the critical components of a data center network infrastructure?

The essentials include high-speed switches, solid cabling, and secure routers. These components work together to keep data flowing smoothly.

  • How can I improve network performance in my data center?

Upgrading the cabling to Cat6 or better and adjusting your network settings boosts speed and reliability.

  • What are the latest trends in data center network design?

The industry is moving toward software-defined networking, dense fiber cabling, and edge computing, which will bring computing power closer to where it’s needed — for example, AI processing within a security camera rather than processing it in the cloud.

  • How can I ensure network security in my data center?

A mix of strong cabling, encryption, and firewalls locks down a network to keep bad actors out.

  • What is the ROI of investing in a new data center network?

Organizations see their IT investment payoff in quantifiable areas like performance, outages, and IT costs over time. Those who track IT KPIs find their investment often pays for itself.

  • What level of redundancy is built into your network solutions to ensure maximum uptime?

The level of redundancy is based on the tier you desire or are required to meet with your IT infrastructure. We achieve it using redundant cabling, power sources, and failover systems that maintain uptime when things go wrong.

  • How do you approach network security in a data center environment to protect against cyber threats?

Matrix-NDI applies a layered approach to IT defense, including secure cabling, encryption, and firewalls to keep your data and network traffic safe.

  • Can you accommodate high-density computing and storage requirements with your network infrastructure?

Yes. Matrix-NDI designs for high-density environments, using high-quality cabling and routing to handle massive data loads.

  • How do you optimize network performance for cloud computing, big data, and AI applications?

Matrix-NDI focuses on high-speed cabling and intelligent network design, featuring best practices and standards compliance to ensure your data-intensive applications run smoothly.

  • What is your experience designing networks for specific industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA, PCI DSS)?

Industry regulations don’t impact what we build. Security and compliance are achieved through various Network Connections and other software contracts. The network hardware and cabling are the same, whether secure or not.

  • What if any HVAC recommendations/considerations come into play (heat from all those servers, etc.)

Keeping your data center cool is key. Matrix-NDI factors in HVAC systems to manage the heat from all that equipment.

  • What if any considerations come into play for ground vibrations (rail/transit/earthquake)?

Disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) is your defense against natural disasters and data loss. Matrix-NDI has an article on 6 items to consider in disaster recovery.

  • What considerations must be made for backup power or service rollover in an outage?

Matrix-NDI can help you create a disaster recovery plan and electricity supply contingency system, including uninterruptible power supplies. They turn on when the grid goes down, drawing power from stored in batteries or created by generators.

  • Are extra precautions put in place for fires?

Yes. Data centers have their own unique fire standards. NFPA 75 provides standards for protecting information technology equipment from fire. NFPA 76 covers the fire protection of telecommunications facilities. These standards ensure your data centers are designed and built with adequate fire detection and suppression systems.

  • Do I need to incorporate redundant types of internet service connections?

Yes. Matrix-NDI builds redundant connections so you’re never left in the dark, even if one line goes down. The parameters for redundant ISPs depends on the tier of the data center you are creating. Matrix-NDI explores cable, fiber, satellite, and 5G service combinations. We may also suggest using multiple providers of similar services. For example, two different 5G networks.

  • How can Matrix-NDI help with IT infrastructure planning?

Matrix-NDI is your go-to expert for all things IT infrastructure. We have the nationwide presence, experience, brand partnerships, people (including RCDDs), skillful capabilities, and knowledge of what’s coming next to guide your IT infrastructure.
